The stages below detail the plan of action that we use when taking on a web design project. It is designed to make the client feel at ease by knowing where they currently are within the design process: 1. Client produces a written brief detailing the purpose of the proposed website, how many pages are required and an overview of the content of the pages. The brief should also include details of any particular colour scheme that is required and links to example websites that are designed in the same way to that required. It is a good idea to provide other literature such as sales brochures, leaflets and flyer's if these contain design elements that can be incorporated into the website design. 2. All blocks of text, photographs and other materials to be used on the website should be provided and the copyright of such materials should be held by the client. Textual information that requires typing up is subject to extra charges. Photographs should be provided in .png format and the highest resolution possible. Photographs and images that require scanning or format changes are subject to extra charges. 3. Once we have recieved the brief, we will be able to provide a realistic figure for development cost and a time frame for the project. We will produce a basic template incorporating the ideas of the brief such as colour, style, competitor sites, corporate branding and so forth. 4. We will present the template to the client. If the client agrees with the design of the initial template we will prepare an agreement of services and an invoice for 40% of the development and hosting fee would then be due. 5. The remaining content will then be added to the site and any minor changes made as requested by the client (such as changes to images/small text alterations/layout of menus). 6. The site will be thoroughly tested on various platforms and using various web browsers before being checked by the client. The remaining 60% development and hosting fee would then be due, after payment of which the site will go live. Our design work is guaranteed for 3 months. Therefore if a coding error or omission from the material submitted by the client is found, this will be rectified free of charge. Additions beyond the original materials shall be added in line with the maintenance charges. Submission of websites to search engines is included in the development fee. The average website design and implementation costs around £250-£500 for a basic website (1-5 pages) without databases and animated content. This includes one years hosting and the registration costs of the domain name. |
